Happy New Year everyone. Wishing all of you the best for the year 2000.

chat in real time on Friday January 14, 9:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
The first ever Busy Educator's Newsletter Reader Survey has been posted
on the website at http://www.thebusyeducator.com/

In order to better help you my readers, I've put together a survey to find out what
you want to read about the most in The Busy Educator's Newsletter.
The questions are about what grade levels/subjects you are most interested in
seeing featured in this newsletter. The survey is anonymous and anyone who
takes the survey(only 7 questions) will see the results when they complete the
last question. With over 2000 subscribers to The Busy Educator's Newsletter,
it will be great to find out where people are from, what grades they teach and
what they really want to read. The link to the survey can be found on the opening
page of http://www.thebusyeducator.com/ in the bottom right hand corner!
CONTEST
Thank you to all those who sent in a favorite educational website. I'm tabulating

*YES I CAN! SCIENCE
http://yesican.yorku.ca
Initially funded by Industry Canada and currently hosted by the Faculty of
Pure and Applied Science, York University, Canada, the mandate of the Yes I
Can! Science project is to design and develop a database of curriculum
resources and make it freely available to K-12 Science teachers around the
world. The database contains the following resource types:
- -classroom lesson plans;
- -labs, demonstrations and classroom activities;
- -assessment tools, performance indicators; and
- -background information for teachers.
Based on a train metaphor, each "Station House" of the "Data Engine" allows
the teacher to search the curriculum outcomes and linked resources in a
unique way. For those teachers with limited time, the "Express Search" gives
a quick list of all resources for a given grade and subject.
The exceptional idea behind York University's YES I Can! Science database is
that by allowing keyword searches within a specific grade and subject area,
teachers across Canada and around the world are able to align the resources
they find inside the database to their own regional, local, or school
curricula. Visit often as high quality science resources are continually
being added.
