TIM'S TEACHER TIP
Tim Bedley
http://www.eleMENTOR.com
To foster teamwork, allow stuck students to call on another student with a
raised hand for help. For example, “Mike, it looks like you are stuck on
that question.  Why don’t you call on another student who has a hand
raised to help you out.”  This method also makes the stuck student feel
special, gives him/her power, since he/she gets to pick the next student to
answer.  Be sure to celebrate good answers so as to not encourage
purposeful wrong answers.  If you don't, some students may pretend to not
have the correct answer just so they get to call on another student.

Mrs. Taylor's Third Graders is designed for use by her students and their
families.  It is updated weekly with information about current curriculum
and important announcements.  This also includes pages for each of the
Internet Projects they are currently doing.  Since her third graders use
many of the books in The Magic School Bus series by Joanna Cole,  she
has developed WebQuests for 3 of these and will be adding more to the
site. Students and parents can also find links to helpful and fun websites.

ELEMENTARY LINKS
http://www.oswego.org/ocsd-web/teaching/elementary/k-6.htm
Here are two website from Cathy Chamberlain from Oswego New York USA:

Educational Web Design
This page was created for all those busy educators that are quickly
becoming involved in web page development. These pages provide
teachers with various examples of excellent types of web pages that
teachers can create. It also provides key links for sites that teachers would
need while designing their pages. Hopefully these pages will help educators
by providing everything they would need to get started and create
wonderful learning experiences and communicative avenues for their
classrooms.

Elementary Links
Many teachers are quickly finding the rich resources the web can provide
them for their instruction. Elementary links provides the busy teacher with
excellent sites in the various curriculum areas and other areas of particular
interest for teachers. Doing a unit on bats? Go to the science links page and
before long you will find wonderful sites, quizzes an even interactive game
sites that you can incorporate into your unit.

teachers, students, and parents a variety of resources including a science
activity of the month and an archive of over three years of past activities -
science questions and investigations using household items, the outdoors,
or the Internet. There are additional resources for specific science units or
topics, from birds to structures and appropriate links for further research by
inquiring adults or children.
