The ice rink in the back yard has now melted away, the foot of packed snow in the
middle of the playground is all gone, report cards for the second term have been
handed in to the principal and 100 copies of The Busy Educator's Guide To The
World Wide Web have been mailed out to contest winners!
Please join me in my teachers chat this month at http://www.teachers.net chat
where my special guest will be Dr. Harry Wong, author of The First Days Of School.
The chat will take place on Monday, March 6 at 9:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
DR. HARRY K. WONG
Harry K. Wong is the most sought after speaker in education today. Dr. Wong
regards himself as a "a plain, old classroom teacher." However, his record
shows that he has been an excellent classroom teacher who has shared his
successes with thousands of teachers internationally.
He is usually booked from two to four years into the future for speeches, and
because of his many professional activities, must turn down many requests
each week.
He has given over 3000 presentations to some half-million people, including
the Distinguished Lecture at the American Association of School
Administrators Convention.
He has lectured in every American state and Canadian province and in South
America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and Antarctica.
He has over 30 publications including a leading book in education on how to
start the first days of school, a video and audio tape series, a science
textbook series, three films, and numerous magazine and journal articles to
his credit.
In his over 35 years in the classroom, he developed methods that caused him
to have no discipline problems, have a zero dropout rate, have a 95% homework
turn-in factor, and the ability to demonstrate mastery learning for each of
his students.
His students have won over 200 awards.
Because of his achievements, Dr. Wong has been awarded the
Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award, the Science Teacher Achievement
Recognition Award, the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award, and the Valley
Forge Teacher's Medal.
He was also the subject of a story in Reader's Digest.

TIM'S TEACHER TIP
Tim Bedley
http://www.eleMENTOR.com
Sometimes we teachers get stuck in ruts; we start feeling like there's not enough life in
our classrooms. If you are feeling this way, here's a few suggestions. When was the
last time you video taped yourself and did some self-analysis? When was the last time
you watched another teacher in action? When was the last time you tried something with
your students that was totally new and innovative? I have found both of these exercises to
be extremely refreshing and revealing.
