CLASSROOM TEACHER'S EMERGENCY LESSON PLANS
John Philips
jjohnny@csolve.net
http://www.jjohnnypress.com/
ISBN 0-9686403-0-3
These emergency lesson plans come from John Philips new book "Jivin Johnny's
Classroom Teacher's Emergency Lesson Plans for elementary and high schools."
The book contains over 90 student centered lessons and projects to help you survive
--while your students learn!
CREATE A CROSSWORD PUZZLE
Create your own crossword puzzle, using at least 20 of the terms or proper nouns
found in your studies in this class. (If not using your present subject, then try using
just sports terms or musical groups or things found in a kitchen.)
Make sure that your clues are accurate and easily understood.
Remember also that the answers have to read properly both across and down.
TEACHER: A supply of graph paper is helpful for this exercise.
As a precursor to this activity, have students try a crossword puzzle.
An alternative assignment is to ask students to create a word search. This is a much
easier exercise, but loses the educationally productive benefit of requiring students to
find descriptions or definitions for terms.
