http://www.jjohnnypress.com/
ISBN 0-9686403-0-3
These emergency lesson plans come from John Philips new book "Jivin Johnny's
Classroom Teacher's Emergency Lesson Plans for elementary and high schools."

--while your students learn!
NATIONAL ANTHEM
Write the script for a video that would accompany the national anthem.
Indicate in your script what shots you would choose, camera directions, and how long
each of these shots would appear on screen. (Be aware that 10 seconds is a very long
time on screen. Time 10 seconds and see!)
You may wish to select shots that present -the land
-nature
-the people of your country
-their work
-their play
-their values
-national symbols and landmarks
-national celebrations
-your country’s armed forces
-educational opportunities or a
combination of these and other details
Remember, your finished srcript must be the same time length as your national
anthem.TEACHER: Begin this exercise by playing and timing a musical version of the
National anthem.
Also tape several TV versions of the national anthem (played at sign-off and sign-on
Times). Then, after the class have completed their scripts and discussed them, look
At the taped versions and discuss the merits and shortcomings of each.

CORNFIELD MAZE
http://www.cornfieldmaze.com/
On a weekend in September, we decided to get away from the TV and radio and visit a
cornfield maze just outside London Ontario. The maze is part of the the "maze craze"
first introduced in the state of Utah and the western United States in 1996. The MAiZE
has grown into the world’s largest cornfield maze company and now six years later, there
are more than 200 mazes, (a Guinness record), in 40 American states and three Canadian
provinces.
I highly recommend the maze for family and school trips. You can do the maze in the
daytime, in the night with flashlights, for birthday parties and for Halloween activities.
There are more than 100 locations. This is the maze we visited:

We found it was so nice to get away and get “lost” in the country!
