Classroom Management with Harry and Rosemary Wong
http://www.ClassroomManagement.com

This course is:

  1. Interactive – the teacher will have assignments to produce a workable management plan
  2. Reflective – hundreds of strategies and practices will be provided from which the teacher must reflect and develop a plan suitable for a particular classroom
  3. Purposeful – the goal is to produce effective teachers who will improve student learning

This program is designed so the user will create a Classroom Management Action Plan Binder.  An empty binder is sent to each person enrolled in the course.  At the end of the course, the binder will be filled with pages of plans for organization and management and will become the learner’s personal guide for success in the classroom.

SAVE READING RAINBOW (PARENTS AND TEACHERS)
http://savereadingrainbow.org/petition/

Every week, over 4.3 million children, teachers, parents and grandparents enjoy and learn from Reading Rainbow. Reading Rainbow is the #1-most-watched PBS program in the classroom.

This PBS program is one I’ve personally used in my classroom for years.

Unfortunately there is a real danger of Reading Rainbow being taken off the air because of a lack of sponsorship funding. The initial goal is to collect 10,000 signatures by the end of the 2005 year. Within one month, the website has collected over 8,000 online petitions!

Please add your name to the petition at: http://savereadingrainbow.org/petition/

Birthday,” there is also an archive of history events and about 2,000,000 articles and definitions from leading dictionaries and encyclopedias.

UPDATE RUN/WALK ACROSS AMERICA (TEACHERS, GR. 4-8)
http://www.ontrackdesigns.com/seeusrun/index.htm

Currently, the 4th grade class is slightly ahead of the 5th grade class and has completed  946 miles. The 5th grade class has completed 935 miles. Both classes are about 40 miles behind the pace needed to complete the trek by the end of the school year. In order for either class to be successful, each student must run or walk a total of 2 miles per week during every week of the school year. That is certainly not much, but it does take perseverance! Our research has shown that no individual elementary class has successfully completed the entire trek in one school year.

Although our web site receives hundreds of visitors each week from across the U.S., Europe, Africa and elsewhere, the students did not receive any notes of encouragement  last week. Vicki and I have been their cheerleaders and coaches for the past three months, but we are in need of some people to visit our web site (www.seeusrun.com) and to click on the "Encourage" link to send the kids a word of encouragement. The temperatures here have gotten colder, and the snow is piling up. This week we will drop below zero for our low temps. The kids need encouragement, and we are at a turning point in this curriculum. If they can get through the holidays on pace, they stand a good chance of completing the trek! Encouraging words are like fuel that keep them going.

Please consider visiting our site and sending a word of encouragement. It doesn't need to  be long, and you don't need to know any of the kids to send a note of encouragement. You would be helping to motivate 95 kids in a very challenging task.
