Here’s a slick site from the Canada Savings Bond people with eye catching graphics and buttons just geared to appeal to kids.  Content is presented in short paragraphs with questions in a multiple choice format with those eye catching buttons.

Five categories of information is presented under the titles: Why Should I Save?; Interest-ing; What Are You Saving For?; Savings Game and Parents.

Why Should I Save? discusses the three golden rules of saving: Get Started Early, Stick To A Plan and Pay Yourself Too.  A section on entitled Pick My Goals shows kids how to set up a savings plan for going on a vacation, university tuition, buying a computer, buying a new bike or putting away savings for future use.  Once a goal is picked, a plan can then be made to show how the goal will be achieved.

Interest-ing lets users scroll over definitions such as accrue, appreciation, capital, depreciation, wages and see what they mean in the definition viewer.

What Are You Saving For? is a great section to see real kids telling other kids what they’re saving up for.  There’s also an invitation to kids to contribute their real stories to this section as well.

Savings Game is a modern version of Pac-Mac with savings tokens, buy me and save tags.  If you register, you get the chance to make it on the High Score list.

The section for parents is also short and to the point giving parents the advice of teaching their children to save early,  have a learning objective, a tool to practice and making it fun.

The site is also available in French.
